The beginning of the Summer season, the Solstice, of vocal encounters, of Children’s choir – Marseille Sings. My intuition makes me visit nearby Parc Bagatelle and I discover that many people have the same idea. A choir sings. And then another, and another. It’s Ensemble season!

A few days later, the Children’s Concert takes the stage with musicians and leading teacher surrounded by proud parents, family and friends. Just the first stroke on the violin already captivates, the first few words sung by the children touch your heart. Listening to them one believes again in the Future. Their last compelling song, about the Earth – give us back the clean Earth, the clear sea and clear sky, they belong to us all.

My beloved car-free coast day happens from 17:00 until 23:00 on Solstice Day, the change of time is due to heatwaves already hitting the country from mid June onward. Even after 7pm it is still hot but the enticing sea view makes one feel alright. It is also the day of Fête de la Musique, celebrated nationally, and here on the coast with a touch of Latino, électro, and Disco music. Crowded but with the Fraternity feel.

Fête de la Musique here on the coast is mainly Disco beat music attracting many young people and I do not feel out of tune 🙂 An original Marseille Rap band is part of this. At the end of the coastal road there is the residential site with its bakeries and restaurants, today exposing their gourmet on the sidewalk. Another welcome nourishment comes from the vast sea view nearby that emits the sense of serenity.
