Vignette – short description anecdote sketch picture story

Welcome to Colorful Vignettes, I am from the Netherlands and live in marvelous Marseille in the south of France. My ongoing interest in photography includes the production of travel and cultural photo stories with some having featured in the inflight and travel magazines of Thai Airways, Qantas Airlines, Garuda Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Thailand Traveller, Thailand Tatler, and more.

My focus is on things, sites, and situations that appeal to me for their beauty and uniqueness and inspire me to transpose these into striking images while I may muse about today’s challenges, particularly the climate crisis.

The first camera I bought was on my travel in India, an everyman’s plastic Kodak fixed-lens camera, shooting on b/w film. My second and following cameras were Nikon, shooting on color reversal film for those magical slideshows and for the reason this film was used in magazine publishing.

Today I carry a Fujifilm X-Pro2 camera with a Fujinon XF 18-55mm lens and a Fujinon XC 15-45mm that suit all my needs. Besides working with the rich color palette of each season, I also love b/w photography for its strong expression of contrasts and its power to set a reflective mood.

Although every picture tells a story, I also tell a story accompanying the photos in each Colorful Vignette. I hope you will find enjoyment in this.
