As usual, the Municipality of Marseille could not have planned a better day than this one for a traffic-free coastal road when the sun comes out after rainy and clouded weeks and people have their weekend and pro musicians are happy to play for a continuous flow of audience.

A day in the winter sun with musicians playing uplifting music is like man-made heaven. You can recognise the songs but it is the band’s improvisation that brings freshness to them. The Jérémie Schacre Trio play Django Jazz, it reminds me of the ’70s when Jazz fusion started to flourish with such guitar virtuosos like Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola.

Thinking that The Jérémie Schacre Trio is fabulous – around the corner I hear the dynamic Latin music beat that immediately captivates. It is the Al’ Pollan Y Su Latin Power – of voice, congas, keyboard and recorded rhythm session – bringing joy in the air. They must be genuine Cubans.

Alberto Pollan has the natural skill to engage people in dancing. There is no escape but to feel the joy that resonates in the Latin songs. Music is a universal language that speaks to everyone but to kindle an immediate response in everyone regardless their background is unique. His Latin Power is a fusion of Afro-Cuban Salsa, Bachata and Merengue music.

The 3,5 kilometres long coastal road section reserved for the traffic-free day is saturated with people, but it doesn’t feel crowded or busy, everyone is in the relaxed-mode, there is the inherent sense of liberty equality and fraternity, as it also should be on those other days.

At the end of the day on this enticing coast, after having taken in the waves of uplifting rhythms and songs, there is Nature with its vastness of sea and sky, a presence of a nourishing calmness and silence.
