Togetherness

Marseille is much about outdoor life, it is even more so when a Sunday becomes traffic free on one of the city’s most beautiful boulevards. An opportunity that creates all kinds of expressions of togetherness, from music performances, group dance, to marching to the beat of drums.

Inviting and lively music makes us dance, spontaneously. The rhythm of the loud beat of drums triggers not only your attention but gives you also strength and courage, somehow. And touching jazz songs remind you of how sweet life actually can be. Moments of togetherness, that likely fall apart when everyone heads home again. But is that really so?

It looks that when the word Free comes around that we pay attention, like the feeling of being welcome with all the others. Humanity is very diverse, how can it not be?, that is the essence of living on Earth. Lasting togetherness can come with acceptance. That brings unity in diversity.

When I experience togetherness I am also reminded of that song Why can’t we live together written by R&B singer Timmy Thomas in 1972. A wonderful, realistic, song, but I am convinced that one day we arrive at that stage that we can live together. Every drum beat reminds us of that.

Delicate and formidable
