With the UV index peaking at 9 on most days, one clouded morning takes me to the Calanques after a long time. A break from the sun and its cloudless skies. Usually I go outdoors after 5pm and with the Olympic Nautical and Football Games happening in Marseille there is Joy in the air, you feel it in the streets or by watching the Games on TV broadcasts.

The perk of being outdoors during early evenings is a soft sun and seeing people inspired to play their own sport activities of running, diving and swimming now with a bit of Olympic panache with so many foreign athletes around. Another Joy manifests when Kamala Harris announces she is running for President, saying it with such a sunny and convincing smile that she surely will be victorious over the man-of-falsehood.

I have no doubt that competing in the Olympic Games causes strain, frustration and pain but the ultimate victories bring genuine Joy, worldwide. There is also no doubt that taking on the fight against falsehood takes as much effort but the ultimate victory also will be felt worldwide. It will take a swift jump over this obstinate hurdle.

The Olympic Games reveal today’s contrasts in the world, the truthful Spirit of joyful collaboration and competition among nations with an equal number of male and female athletes – while being safeguarded by police, military, air and naval forces from terrorist attacks. But the Joyful Spirit of Humanity shines above it all and that can never be defeated.
