Collins Dictionary – phrase: the spirit of the age / the spirit of the times is the set of the ideas, beliefs, and aims that is typical of people in a particular period in history. What is so typical of our current period in history is the clash between false and true, with all the nuances in between that make it hard to unravel of what is true. What reference?

Fortunately, over the past centuries and recent decades humanity established constitutions and human rights that today are the reference to address situations that are overwhelmingly untrue and destructive. The freedom of democracy versus dictatorship, true diplomacy versus war, reason or just plain human mental sanity versus irrationality.

The Spirit of our Times also has developed a universal view of humanity, especially after WWII – one rather sees oneself as a citizen of the world than only being identified with one’s country and culture. It is this unity encouraging universal mindset that leads the course of the future.
