Colorful They Fall

At last, Autumn has taken over from Summer Two. Beautiful colorful leaves keep falling. Daily life says farewell to sunscreen and baseball cap. The sun is soft, sometimes disappearing behind clouds or clouds of rain. Everyone and everything seem to be better for it. Oh .. but, there is the occasional storm, a severe wind, blowing sea waves high up.

My beloved Ginkgo Biloba trees are still green except for one which upper half shows vivid yellow leaves. I am keeping an eye on the others as I don’t want to miss the sudden change to their brilliant autumn attire. So with most tree species, the change of color is sudden. And suddenly, gone are the leaves, leaving the tree branches entirely nude.

These are crazy times in the world. Crazy politicians. Crazy wars. Crazy weather. I follow most of the world news to stay up to date and to look for changes for the better. Walks in the Calanques take me into another reality, of birds singing, a wind whispering and a gentle sunlight leading my footsteps. What a contrast. Yet, we will get out of this absurdity.

People asserting false or incomplete information is today’s persisting challenge. Many get fooled by this game on social media and by selfish politicians and leaders, triggering conflict and stupidity. As 17th century English politician Anthony Weldon said – Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Vive the rational mind.
